On The Cross, Jesus Set Us Free From 7 Things.

Note: This post is taken from a sermon by Pastor J.C. Cooke of Pebble Creek Assembly Of God Church in Independence, Missouri. Visit their website at PCAG.org.
Acts 10:38 (NKJV) says “ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
Jesus came to show us that God is good and to set us free from sin.
1. SET US FREE FROM SIN.
Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV) says “He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”
Everyone sins and makes mistakes, but only fools repeat them.
2 Corinthians 5:19 (NLT) says “For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.”
1 John 1:9 (NKJV) says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Acts 20:21 (NLT) says “I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.”
We should always be ready to tell others what good things God has done for us.
2. SET US FREE FROM SICKNESS AND DISEASE.
1 Peter 2:24 (NLT) says “He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.”
Numbers 21:8 (NKJV) says “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.””
John 3:14-16 (NLT) says “And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.””
Matthew 9:6 (NKJV) says “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
James 5:13-15 (NKJV) says “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.”
3. SET US FREE FROM THE DEVIL.
Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) says “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Colossians 2:15 (NKJV) says “ Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
4. SET US FREE FROM POVERTY.
2 Corinthians 8:9 (AMP) says “For you are recognizing [more clearly] the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [His astonishing kindness, His generosity, His gracious favor], that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich (abundantly blessed).”
1 Timothy 6:17 (NLT) says “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”
God can supply all your needs in any way He wants! We should concentrate on Him – Not on our circumstances! Put your trust in God.
Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) says “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
3 John 1:2 (NKJV) says “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” All Means All!
John 10:10 (NLT) says “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
5. SET US FREE FROM THE CURSE.
Galatians 3:13 (NLT) says “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) says “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Praise the Lord!
Jesus’ blood cancels every curse! Thank you Lord.
6. SET US FREE FROM OUR-SELF.
Ephesians 4:21-24 (NLT) says “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”
Romans 6:6 (NLT) says “We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.” Hallelujah!
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) says “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
The person causing you the most problems right now is often “You”! Say to yourself “I am no longer a slave to sin.”
7. SET US FREE FROM THE WORLD.
Galatians 6:14 (NLT) says “As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.”
Colossians 1:13 (NKJV) says “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,”
Psalm 91:7 (NKJV) says “A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.”
John 19:30 (NKJV) says “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”
Acts 2:26 (NLT) says “No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts His praises! My body rests in hope.”
John 11:25 (NKJV) says “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
When Jesus said “It Is Finished”, He was saying that He had fulfilled the Law. The old covenant is done. He was establishing a new covenant, a better covenant based on better promises. Jesus defeated death, hell and the grave and sins control over people.
God wants to fill you with peace, joy and hope. And, Jesus is the answer to everything you need.
