This Could Be The Last Day – Are You Ready?
We are already in what is called the “Last Days.” Satan knows that his time is short, and he will use every trick, tactic, scheme, device, and person at his disposal to deceive as many people as possible.
One of Satan’s favorite tricks is to create doubt about God and God’s Word through questions and messages presented by his false teachers and preachers.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NIV) says:
“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.”
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (NIV) says:
“But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.”
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NIV) says:
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”
Today, as Christians, we cannot avoid every kind of evil because we live in a sinful world.
We have many distractions that can divide our attention and prevent us from concentrating on our faith. As a result, we can easily lose our faith by letting our lives become filled to excess and dysfunctional.
We should strive to make sure that we eliminate as many distractions as possible, avoid tempting situations so we don’t give evil a foothold, and concentrate on living our lives according to God’s Word.
WATCH OUT FOR FALSE TEACHERS AND PREACHERS
Matthew 24:4-5 (NIV) says:
“Jesus answered: ‘Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.’”
Exactly as the Snake seduced Eve with his smooth talk, Satan will attempt to lure you away from the simple purity of your love for Christ.
Don’t fall for captivating speakers who sound good and seem to make sense. Satan has many false teachers and preachers that appear to make sense, who sound like an authority, and say words that you like to hear. Don’t let your mind be corrupted or seduced! Constantly search the Bible and check his or her teaching or message preached against God’s Word.
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (NIV) says:
“But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.”
The Bible is God’s infallible word and should be your authoritative guide. Those who teach or preach anything that contradicts God’s Word are false teachers or preachers, even if they appear to be an authority with exceptional credentials. Always carefully check everything they say against the Bible.
But, don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word. On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Test and prove everything until you can recognize what is truth. Keep only the good and hold fast to that. Then, throw out everything that is false.
Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking false teachers and preachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Read your Bible every day and get to know Him better and better. This is the most important step in recognizing when false teachers and preachers are making false and misleading statements.
We all still have much room for growth. No matter where we are in our spiritual journey, no matter how mature we are in our spiritual faith, the sinful world will always challenge our faith. Find time every day to read your Bible and draw closer to Jesus. This will prepare you to stand firm in your faith in any and all circumstances.
Put On God’s Armor
To defeat Satan at every turn, arm yourself with knowledge and understanding of God’s Word and protect yourself with the full armor of God as described in Ephesians 6:10-18.
Let’s constantly be on guard and not be one of the millions who will be deceived and lost.
