What Is Meant By Salvation?

What Is Meant By Salvation?
Salvation
is a gift, pure and simple. God gives us Salvation on the basis of
what Jesus Christ has done for us and welcomes us into the Kingdom.
How do we receive this gift? We receive it by believing that what
God’s
Word (The Holy Bible)

says is true.
What
has Jesus done that God should do this for us?
1.

Jesus came to earth and lived a life of perfect obedience before God.
2.

Jesus died on the cross for us, bearing in His own body the just
punishment of God for our sins. God’s justice was satisfied with
Jesus’ sacrifice. Those who believe
(have
Faith)

will be saved.
S
SALVATION
means to be rescued from sin and its punishment and set free to know,
love and serve God.
John
8:34, 36 (NIV) says:
“Jesus
replied, I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to
sin…If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”.
A
ALL
PEOPLE

have turned away from God and broken the law of God. The Bible calls
this sin.
Romans
3:23 (NIV) says:
“All
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
L
LEFT
TO OURSELVES
,
there is no rescue, and the justice of God requires our eternal
damnation in the terrors of hell.
John
3:36 (NIV) says:
“Whoever
believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son
will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.”
V
VICTORY
over sin was obtained when God sent His Son Jesus to earth. Jesus
obeyed God’s laws perfectly, yet He died to pay for the sins of all
who believe.
1
John 4:10 (NIV) says:
“This
is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son
as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
A
ADMITTING
that our sin has put us in a desperate situation is the first step in
our rescue.
1
John 1:8-9 (NIV) says:
“If
we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not
in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will
forgive our sins.”
T
TAKING
the free gift of Jesus’ payment for our sin makes us
“not
guilty”

in God’s sight.
Romans
6:23 (NIV) says:
“The
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.”
I
IN
GRATITUDE

for such love, we follow Him in obedience and sacrificial service.
Romans
12:1 (NIV) says:
“Therefore,
I urge you, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.”
O
ONLY
JESUS

has provided the way of salvation.
Acts
4:12 (NIV) says:
“Salvation
is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven
given to men by which we must be saved.”
N
NOW
is the time to make your decision.
2
Corinthians 6:2 (NIV) says:
“Now
is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
THE
SALVATION PRAYER
Lord
Jesus,
I’m
a sinner and my sins deserve judgment. Thank you for paying the
penalty for my sins with your death on the cross. I ask you to
forgive my sins, come into my life and cleanse me. Thank you for
saving me, Jesus, for giving me a new start today and for helping me
to live for you. In your name I pray. Amen.

Say
this prayer with your mouth and believe it in your heart and you will
be saved. Then, immediately tell someone else what you just did. As
soon as possible, also read the following scriptures: John 3:1-3;
Romans 5:8; John 14:6; Romans 8:1-17; Romans 10:8-10; Romans 12:1-2
If
you have prayed this prayer and meant it from your heart, your are
now saved (born again) and adopted as a child of God. Welcome to the
family!
