Embracing Life’s Transitions
Transitions often arrive as changes beyond our control. During such times, many find comfort in words of wisdom like these:
One familiar saying is the Serenity Prayer:
“God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.”
Another popular phrase is, “Let go and let GOD.”
Life’s unpredictability can be much like the weather. Memorial Day just passed, and many had planned outdoor celebrations. But when a thunderstorm struck, all their preparations—good food, great company, a beautiful venue—were overruled by nature’s course.
Recently, I faced a transition that brought both of these sayings to mind. I came to accept that there are some things I cannot change—especially others’ thoughts, words, or actions, even when they differ from my wishes. This is where wisdom takes root, prompting me to “let go and let GOD.”
As I embrace this journey, I’ve penned a Prayer of Acceptance to guide me through the unexpected changes in my life. If you, too, are in a season of transition, may this prayer uplift and strengthen you.
Prayer of Acceptance
Thank you, GOD, for this release,
I accept by faith, Your Peace.
I choose to welcome and embrace
This new life season of Your Grace.
I know that You are in control
And that You never make mistakes!
When we choose to let go and let God, to change what we can, to accept what we cannot, and to seek the wisdom to understand the difference, we align ourselves to navigate life’s unpredictability with grace and resilience.
Blessings to you,
Gloria
