If God Is For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?
Romans 8:28-31: God Works for the Good of Those Who Love Him
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS!
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
God works in “all things” for the ultimate good of those who love Him. This does not mean everything we encounter is good—evil is prevalent in this fallen world. But God can transform every situation to fulfill His long-range purpose for us.
It’s important to note that God’s promise is not about making us happy but about fulfilling His purpose. This assurance belongs only to those who love God and are “called according to His purpose.” These are the people the Holy Spirit enables to accept Christ as Savior and commit their lives to Him. Such individuals have a renewed perspective on life, seeking security in Heaven, not in earthly possessions, and learning to accept hardship because they know God is with them.
God’s Ultimate Goal for Us
God’s ultimate goal is to make us like Christ. 1 John 3:2 says,
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as He is.”
As we grow in Christlikeness, we discover our true selves and the people God created us to be.
How Can We Be Conformed to Christ’s Likeness?
- By reading and following God’s Word.
- By studying Christ’s life on earth through the Gospels.
- By being filled with His Spirit.
- By doing His work in the world.
We Were Not an Afterthought
God’s purpose for us was established before the foundation of the world. He has always known and loved us, and His love is eternal. If you have believed in Christ, you can rejoice in the fact that God’s wisdom and power are supreme. He will guide and protect you until the day you stand in His presence.
Are You Good Enough to Be Saved?
Do you believe you’ve been too bad for God to save you? Absolutely not! If God gave His Son for you, He isn’t going to withhold His gift of salvation. Christ gave His life for everyone, including you.
Romans 10:8-10 reminds us,
“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Hebrews 4:7 says,
“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
If you hear His voice today, don’t delay. Accept Jesus Christ and embrace the salvation He freely offers.
